Jenn-good luck, keep up that strength every day. I personally have gone throught the same awakening. Some days will be hard, but just put a smile on your face, and know that tomorrow WILL be better--it is better, every day--and that attitude is teaching people you don't even know how to do it!! Good for you! God bless you sweetie.

so true--nothing works unless you WANT it, and you give it up to GOD. That is when I believe God says, ok, finally you are ready!

vickie---ideally you are correct, in a perfect world, but we don't live there. I have seen too many doctors right away have an attitude. I have mixed feelings about that. Would you tell him you robbed a bank so watch his personal stuff that you could steal? It feels like admitting that you need watching, very closely. Either you are in a recovery program mode, or you are not. Telling everyone I do not think sends off the right vibes. In this day & age, it is still a stigma that could preclude you from getting healthcare ins in the future, getting employment (of course you have to disclose legal issues) being taken seriously if you say it really did hurt when you arm fell off--"oh, she just wants pain meds"

so true, plus if you work in certain careers, they FORCE you to report to any of your medical providers about your past. I think that is so messed up. I would not say a word, it beccomes a stigma--just what a recovering addict needs, right?

Nancy McGuire---tried to call the number you listed and received a rude response. Either the number is wrong or it has chaged.

Hi Vickie1231,
Honesty isn't always the best policy. Sometimes discretion is better.
Lesson learned the hard way.

Wow Jenn,
We have similar stories =) That doesn't surprise me cause God works in AWESOME ways.

21 years ago I was addicted to alcohol and lost my home, health, husband, job, children and almost lost my life due to it. I grew up in a Christian home and never understood or maybe didn't want to know what surrendering to God meant. I just wanted to do my selfish thing and leave God out of it.

Thank God I ended up in rehab for 9 months. It was there I surrendered my will & my life to God through the 12 steps of AA. Not a craving for alcohol since. Just a desire to serve my loving heavenly Father. Agree with you, this song describes what I feel perfectly.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

T'was Grace that taught...
my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear...
the hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares...
we have already come.
T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far...
and Grace will lead us home.

The Lord has promised good to me...
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be...
as long as life endures.

When we've been here ten thousand years...
bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise...
then when we've first begun.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

Lovely this could be used as a step in recovery. Always tell any doctor before he prescribes any pain medicine that you are a recovering addict.

I did rehab and NA meetings and neither heled I struggled everyday untill I relapsed for two months and it wasn't untill I completely surrendered to God before I became drug free. It was amazing not once since that day have I craved the needle or drug. He knew I couldn't do it without Him and was there the whole time just waiting for me to seek Him. My life and views of the world are completely different now. I understand the meaning I was blind but now I see now

Try a dental collage.you should be able to get help there. I know of someone that used them and her teeth look good. She doesn't need to go there now as .. God bless you. Best of luck with your sobriety.

Your so welcome Jenn ^^)
If you have pain before you get to see a dentist, gargle with very warm water & 1-2 tablespoons of salt. A natural way to fend off infection. Have also heard cloves (boil cloves in water, cool a little & swish, will also help with tooth pain.
Pain is very difficult when your in recovery. Don't give up. Ask your Heavenly Dad for strength & healing. Do you attend NA meetings?
PS - Don't listen to your 13 year old. I know, I have a 12 year old with an attitude too. I take it as a sign he needs some hugs & kisses because he not feeling well about himself.

It depends on which state your in. Medicaid are state plans not federal. Iowa medicaid pays for extraction & dentures. Also covers new dentures every 5 years.

Hi Lady,
Your strong & beautiful. Meth is so hard to get past. Keep your head held high and remember where you've come from. God loves you & looks at our heart. The outside is passing away from the day we are born.
Went through a similar situation as you. Had insurance in 2006 and it cost big bucks to get dentures. Call dentists in your area and see what it will cost with no insurance to have extractions & dentures. Hard to believe but I found out (after the fact) the uninsured paid less than I did with insurance.
Also try Aspen Dental 1-877-277-4479 and Affordable Dentures (Mid & Eastern U.S.) 1-800-336-8873. They will both accept payment plans. Also try colleges that offer dental courses. Many times that will do the work just to get the experience toward their degree.
Praying for you =)

Ima 33 yr old female and a recovering meth addictive and have severe meth mouth. When I went to a dentist to try to get help it would cost me 4500 after my insurance which I don't have. Since I became sober a year ago I have been unable to get a job due to m teeth. I have 28 extractions with most of them are broke all the way to the gum and need a full set of dentures I use to have perfect teeth and was always told what a beautiful smile I had and then suddenly it was gone. They began breaking 3 yrs ago and now I have lost my front tooth. What hurts the worst is when my son that's 13 tells me I use to be pretty but not anymore. I'm trying my best to better myself and leave my past in the past but with my teeth it keeps me from evenin starting the life God wants me live because of our society. I need help more than words can say all I have is insurance to pay. Please if there is anyone out there willing to help me and give me mylife back please contact me. I have no one to help me get started but I know if I had my smile back I would be able to return to the medical field and live again. Please help this is my only hope. God bless and I'm sorry for having to ask so much
